Something else is wrong
- POL is an emulator (server-software).
- RunUO is also emulator (server-software).
- Yes, even Sphere is an emulator (server-software).
- Neverlands is a shard currently running on POL.
- RunNL is the projectname for Neverlands running on the RunUO emulator.
- An emulator is not a shard.
- Unknown really means, it is not known.
- Suggestions are welcome as long as they are backed up with solid arguments.
- You can only say that something 'sux' if you experienced it.

Is RunNL replacing Neverlands?
No. You can see RunNL as a huge update of Neverlands. The old version of Neverlands (running on POL) will be up for
quite a while after RunNL goes public. This means RunNL and Neverlands are both available,
on different servers (thus, different IP's).
What does RunNL offer?
A whole new world with lots of new features, monsters, areas, skills, etc. Lots of ideas and suggestions
(ie. page status, fun graveyards) on the forum have been integrated. Skills that were disabled (ie. stealing, snooping) are back.
Completely new PvP and economy setting settled in the familiar world of Neverlands.
Why should I switch?
Because RunNL is the future. See for yourself on the rest of this website or maybe even login to RunNL (eeks).
I'm not switching!
That's your good right. No one is forcing you. You can watch your bankbox, filled with gold on Neverlands, while others
develop their characters on RunNL.
Will this change change the community? (ie. remove all the assholes.)
Not very likely. This project is concerned with the improvement of the Neverlands scripts not the community. However, since the PvP and economy changes, the community changes as well. Players do not change.
Will this bring back the POL92 age?
Ever noticed that when you look at it afterwards, it all seemed better then it really was at the time? Anyway, no, this will not bring back the POL92 age.
Why was this project so closed?
Basicly to speed up the process. More people involved means more opinions, more comments, more ideas, more ... time. We value opinions and suggestions but in this stage we want to make a solid shard with a good set of features. We can always add, remove, change things later on.
What do I need to play on RunNL?
You need Ultima Online: Age of Shadows and client version 4.0.0p or higher.
Furthermore you need the RunNL package which can be obtained here. It auto-installs all
necessery files to your Ultima Online directory. Uninstalling will put back your original files.
Experienced users can download the files without the installer here.
Can I play in 3D?
Yes, RunNL will support 2D and 3D clients.
Give me a list of all features!
This FAQ should give you alot of information on new features but part of this new world is to discover it once again.
UO Stratics might help alot though.

Will my current account be wiped?
No. Your current account is on the original Neverlands shard. You can keep this account and make a new one on RunNL.
We will not transfer your account, your items... not anything to RunNL.
Will all items be wiped?
No. Again, you are confusing the original Neverlands shard. You will start from scratch on RunNL.
Why is Neverlands 'switching'?
The current shard works on POL, which is not very modern and lacks support for the new AoS features.
RunNL, powered by RunUO, has a much more solid scripting language, is more stable then POL and it supports most AoS features.
The original Neverlands shard will stay up.
I played for ages, now I have to start over?
Well, yes. Though it is technically possible to transfer items, characters, etc to RunNL, this would immidiatly unbalance the environment.
Ofcourse no one is forcing you to switch to RunNL.
Any reward for old players/beta-testers?
Old players suffer from this change. Some people will say they quit, some will stay and start over. Don't count on anything as reward for staying though.
Same goes for beta-testers. They will have the advantage of experiencing RunNL first. In return for all this nothing we want feedback :).
We might add veteran rewards for players that have been with us for a specific amount of time.

The command .house changed!
Yes, we think this menu will be more fitting. Also, the speech commands are available as follows:
- "I ban thee" - Friends, co-owners and owners of a house can issue this command. It will bring up a targeting cursor to ban and eject someone. Friends and owners cannot be banned. By doing this, the person banned will be added to the banned list that is accessible from the house sign menu. There is a limit of 50 banned people per house.
- "Remove thyself" - Friends, co-owners and owners of a house can issue this command. It will bring up a targeting cursor to eject someone. Friends and owners cannot be ejected. The targeted individual will be sent outside the house, 3 tiles from the door.
- "I wish to lock this down" - Locks an item down in your house. Only the owner and co-owners can issue this command.
- "I wish to release this" - Removes lockdown and secure status on an item. Only the owner and co-owners can issue this command.
- "I wish to secure this" - Locks down a container in your house and makes it secure. Only the owner and co-owners can issue this command.
- "I wish to unsecure this" - This command has been disabled, use the release command instead.
- "I wish to place a strongbox" - Will place a secure strongbox inside a house, at the position where the co-owner is standing. Only the co-owner can issue this command.
- "I wish to place a trash barrel"
The command .skill and .level are different.
The level command now shows your actual caps. To lock skills and/or stats use the skill and status gump arrows. Yes, they work.
Calling the guards?
You are probably used to the command .guard. You can simply yell "guards" and it will have a similar effect.
The command .title doesn't lock my title.
This is intentionally. You can choose what to show to others but it can change over time. You can't have very young as title if you are in fact, aged.
'Sell all' and 'sell bag' does nothing.
These commands are in, but you need to add the word 'vendor' or the vendor's name in front of it.
We need .reply
Wish granted.
The command .online is gone?!
It was replaced with .status. Yes, we had our reasons!
Sometimes my message is not bartered. How come?
Barter filters for capital letters and foul language. If it's not a valid barter message, it's not broadcasted.
Are there other changes regarding messages and barter?
You can now do .msg [name] [text] and .msg [name], then enter the text like you're used to. Same goes for .barter.

Ehmm, magic jewels?
The original Neverlands jewels were unbalancing and limited. They have been rewritten to have more features and be a bit weaker. They are also limited to earrings and bracelets.
Jewels are not as important as they were for skills. They have properties you can't get with skills.
Jewels will also obey the skillcap, meaning you can't go over the 100 skillpoints, if this is your cap for that skill (and normally it is).
OMG, and magic clothes?
Leather can posses much more and creative properties then clothes now.
Some rares are missing.
A few useless rare items were removed indeed. Some are still being developed. For example: The triple triad deck will
be in, but not at the start of RunNL, as it is still being worked on.
How can I get rares now?
Currently with treasure hunting and SoS bottles.
Ores have different colors.
They are more metal-like now. They're ranking is still the same but their features are different.
Bone armor is craftable?
Some types are, some are not. All bone types however are repairable.

A short summary will be given below but Zelda created a full skill-list with changes in respect to Neverlands.
Check here: Complete skill-list.
Skillgains
Skillgaining is generally faster. However, skillgain is slower (or about the rate as on Neverlands) in
houses or when standing still for a while. Also, if you are hungry, skillgain goes slower.
One final note: Some skills can be gained passively. This means they go up without using them actively.
Magery
Some magery spells work different now. Also there's a new phenomanon called interruption (Neverlands had
it way back though). Interruption means your spell fizzles if you are interrupted (ie. damaged) during the
cast process.
Some spells depend on your intelligence level, evaluating intelligence skill, magery skill and inscription!
What spells changed?
The (arch) protection spell no longer increases your armor. Instead, you can no longer be interrupted if
it is casted on you. This lasts until it is casted again on you. The arch protection works on party-members.
Protection also lowers physical resistance and resist magic skill, increases spell casting delay.
Reactive armor also changed to an on/off spell. So if you cast it on yourself it's turned on, again and it's
turned off. It increases your physical resistance, so it's not a reflect.
Magic reflect also acts as an on/off spell. It actually doesn't reflect damage but makes your resistances higher.
It decreases caster's physical resistance and increases caster's fire, cold, energy and poison resistance.
Explosion has a delay again (old-school), so a nice combo can be made.
Polymorph now gives you a menu to choose the shape to morph to.
New skills
There are some new skills on RunNL and some skills have a different name.
The new skills are:
- Focus - Could be defined as the warrior's meditation skill. It increases both a player's mana and stamina regeneration.
- Chivalry - Skill needed to use the paladin abilities.
- Necromancy - Skill needed to cast necro spells.
- Discordance - Ha! This is Enticement :D
Resisting Spells
This is actually a collection of 5 resistances now (see your cool statusbar). The skill helps to improve them all.
So it gives protection against cold, fire, poison, physical and energy attacks. These values are not cumulative with armor resistances.
Lumberjacking / Fletching
There are a few new wood types in (total woodtypes is 10 now) and a few were removed. They have more wood
like colors and wood like names. The wood type does matter on bows and staves now.
Certain trees give specific woodtypes. Cedar trees will for example only give normal and cedar logs.
Whether you can get the specific woodtype, depends on skill and luck.
Tinkering
Om my god! Magic jewels? They are now a part of treasure-chests and monster-loot. Tinkering was only used
for magic jewels basicly. Days and days, people macroed to get the magic jewel they wanted. Tinkering is still
usefull for decorating. More items are added for tinkerers.

How do I flip tables and other objects?
You need an Interior Decorator Tool for that. You can find it for sale on Architect NPCs.
I cannot commit my house design! What's wrong?
Check your UO folder and look for a file called 'verdata.mul'. Once found, delete it!
Some options are missing.
That's correct. Most of them are now speech commands (see Commands). But since players are lazy and old habbits
die hard, the most used commands are addded to .house.
How can I secure my house?
Houses are now one big ban-tile. The entire house is secure by default if it's not open to public. Even if someone logs in, in a house where he or she is not friended, this person is removed.
Items that are not locked down, dissapear over time.
Every item that is not locked down or inside a locked down/secure container will decay.
I can't buy housedeeds anywhere.
You should buy a 'houseplacement tool' at the architect. It will popup a menu with all houses.
How do secure chests work now regarding friends, co-owners, and owner?
Single click a secure chest, and use the context menu.
Sweet, anything else I should know?
Yes, doors have the same feature as secure chests. Single click a housedoor to see the options.
top
The vendor doesn't react to buy and sell.
You must say the name of the vendor or simply 'vendor buy' or 'vendor sell'. You can also use the context menu if you single click a vendor.
Most vendors won't buy my items.
Only the vendors that have a need for your items will buy them.
What are these BODs?
BODs (Bulk Order Deeds) are orders that can give you a special item when completed.
How do I get them?
You can get them if you sell items to the smith or tailor.
top
How can I be guarded if there are no players around?
Every NPC in town can call the guards now.
I didn't die instantly by a guard.
Guards hit players very hard, but do not insta-kill. You can even try to outrun the guard.

In general...
There are some changes concerning macroing. The gain rate for skills and stats is generally higher.
However, skills will go slower when you macro on the same spot or try to train skills in your house.
Macro-check popups?
Yup, they are still in. They might have a higher penalty when not answering to them. A few different types
will be in that prevent auto-clicking.
Can I be jailed by those checks?
Specifics are unknown but failing to answer correctly one or more times will result in jail (and a macro-count).
Power-Hour?
No?
Why do skills go slow?
Some anti-macroing is in. For example if you move more, you'll gain more. Also, you learn more outside your house.
You ruined macroing now, you know?!
Macroing is not the way to get skills, specially on RunNL. Skillgains are faster when you play, as it is supposed to be.

Guild colors changed?
Yes.
Guild clothing is the same for each class?
Yes again. Okay, okay, this was done to prevent switching to a guildclass just because it gave 1337 guild clothing.
How do guild wars work?
Basicly the same as they worked on Neverlands, except for these:
- Standard guild used to be called a newbie guild.
- Merchant guild can not have wars.
- Changing your guilds class, resets all allies.
- Order and chaos (type) can only be set by warrior guilds.
- Chaos guilds are always warred to order guilds.
- A warrior (class) guild can only make an alliance with another guild of the same type.
Any other changes to guilds?
Yep, see below:
- Guildstones can not be redeeded, they are removed if you disband the guild.
- Leaving or joining a guild takes 12 hours.
- Changing guildtype or class can be done once a week.
top
Skill- and statcap changed?
Yes, though they still depend on age, the variance is smaller. Maximum skillcap is 800. Maximum statcap 250.
You will start with 600 skillcap and 200 statcap. These will increase over time in steps of 20 and 5 respectively.
Special mount spawns are gone?
No, their spawn location however is not fixed. A few of each type can be found in a certain area.
Monsters seem a lot harder?
Yes, monsters are now more intelligent and tougher. Solo-actions are more difficult and loot probably seems very low to you.
The economy had to be balanced to these new features.

Note: An install package will be available that sets you up.
I can't login!
You can only login with an unencrypted 4.0.1 or newer client. The RunNL package contains this client.
You can also use UORice or UOGateway to do it yourself.
I get stuck at verifying!
This can mean 3 things: 1. You are not using the right client. 2. You don't have the correct IP address in your login.cfg. 3. Your IP is already logged in more then once without multi-approval.
top
Vendors won't work!
First of all, it is now: "vendor buy" or: "[name of vendor] buy". Second, the "speech.mul" file needs to be
in your UO directory (maybe you deleted it for the ol' Neverlands). Alternatively, you can single click on a
a vendor to get a list of options.
I get weird (cliloc) errors when I click something!
Tsk, you didn't update to the latest client!
Colors are weird?
You can get the correct hues file by installing the RunNL package.
Players that use the 3D client might see different colors then players using the 2D client.
top
I can't get Injection working.
Injection has been banned.
Something else doesn't work!
Make sure you use a fresh installed UO:AoS and patched to at least client 4.0.0p.
