Welcome to RunNL: The RunUO Edition of Neverlands.
Welcome
RunNL, the codename for "Neverlands, The RunUO Edition project" is an Ultima Online shard that supports Age of Shadows and Beyond.
Packed with new features, monsters, ores, woods, rares, and other items, it is the land of oppertunities. It combines the best of the Renaissance with the best of Samurai Empire. There is a balance between merchants, warriors and mages, where all of them can find a place in this world.
History
The RunNL shard has gone live on June 15, 2004. Early developments go back to April 2003 where it started with an IRC
conversation about the future of Neverlands. After recreating most features as they are present on Neverlands, a balance was found
between the Renaissance and Age of Shadows version of Ultima Online was found and launched in a test environment.
Recently, the testing has ended and the shard has been stable and balanced since.
After two years RunNL has started in a new direction and focused even more for a balance between Renaissance and Samurai Empire.
Joining
It's quite easy and straightforward to join but a few files are needed. They can be downloaded as a single package from the
download section. Or you can use UOGateway and find Neverlands in the server list. After installing that package, you're ready to go. The first time you try to login, your account is automatically
created, so remember your login details.

- Only one facet - Felucca.
- No insurance.
- Totally custom spawned. (including all monsters covering up to Samurai Empire)

Custom Features
- AI: Necromancer, Paladin and Necro Mage AI's are in. OSI monsters have their original AI, some of the custom ones use these ones tho.
- Bounty System: Our own bounty hunting system. How it works and all the details you can find HERE.
- Townraid system - Monster bash system. Our unique monster bash engine for staff hosted events.
- Shipcrafting - You can craft ships and their parts with proper tools and skills. Ships at vendors are priced highly so its not an useless subsystem.
- Lottery - once activated players can buy lottery tickets and when the lottery is over, the jackpot goes to a lucky boy/girl!
- Araya's Battle chess - Play the chess in a large scale.
- Save gump with the voting links.
- Auction
- Duelling - you can challenge a player to an onsite duel, the winner gets nothing, the loser don't lose anything. Duellers cannot be harmed and are fully restored after a duel.
- Eventmasters, little thingies that help to organize events.
- Nexus area. You can't get killed there, its linked to every bank and its the best place to make trading deals. We also host tourneys there.
Nexus sparkle is located at each bank, you can enter it, then the menu shows up. You can travel to the nexus area or use up your credits to get special rewards.
- PvP ladder avaialable on website, it shows the most active pvpers. Reskilling takes away your points.
- Knive's townhouses and static houses for rent.
- Fully utilized Xmlspawner2
- Message of the day, enabled when there are urgent matters for players to know of.
- IrcBot - bot on our official irc channel.
- Website player/guild statistics
- uest system - unique quest system with the ability to develop huge amounts of various quests in no time.
Thus expect lots of quests!
- If you die at britain graveyard your body stands up and you have to fight it to get your equipement back!
- Triple triad deck minigame. 53 cards to get, dropping from various monsters, and you can play them once you get at least 5!

- Magic clothes. They come in 5 strengths - scholar, learned, seer, soothsayer, oracle.
Types of clothes are : Mana regeneration, Fire, Lightning, Protection, Magic resistance
Mana regeneration - regenerates your mana
Fire - greater damage from fire spells
Ligthning - greater damage from energy spells
Protection - Penalties for using protection spell gets reduced every level of the clothing
Magic resistance - enhances the effects of magic resistance spell.
While wearing special clothes, your spells cost more mana (depending on their level). Also you can not wield any weapon or shield while using them.
And the only acceptable armor to use them with is Vampire/Demon/Balron armor.
- Paragons spawn over felucca, with many exceptions. Paragon creatures reset their paragon status each server restart (50% chance!).
Killing paragon creatures gains you the points in the virtue of valor.
- Factions : 5 factions, all have their homes in lost lands. To adjust their bonuses and other stuff to non-insurance shard faction items got a makeover.
Faction weapons - they deal the damage in the area specified to a faction eg Mystic faction is a faction of energy.
Faction armor pieces - They get some resistance bonuses in the area of faction element, also they get minor bonuses :
Gloves - HCI
Leggins - Reflect physical damage
Tunic - DCI
Sleeves - SSI
Gorget - DI
Cap - EP
Strength of bonuses and resistances depends on faction and armor type (leather,plate etc)
Also we introduced Imbue tool obtainable at faction homes which can imbue any item at any time (not only at craft)
Imbueing cost silver, obtainable by killing faction foes ( monsters, players )
Also we adjusted faction beneficial actions allowance. You can be ressed by non faction player or healed or be a subject to any
beneficial action unless you are in combat.

Guilds :
- New options for guilds : Changing its name, abbreviation.
- We also have guild clothing (cloak). Its blessed and you can show your guild allegiane by wearing it.

- Addtional chat for guilds (.c command) it sends message to your guild and any allied guilds. Works a bit different than "/"
- No Major artifacts - only minor ones (from paragons and Ancient SOS's)

They dont insta-kill
Npcs don't call for guards, unless attacked
You can't call guards on hidden players
You can guard as ghost, but not in moongate guardzone

Items
- Balron/Vampire/Demon armors. Pretty similiar to OSI demon armors, they have custom properties each piece and the strength of them goes in the order of: vampire,demon,balron. You can get them by killing vampires or daemons or balrons only.

All these armors are mage armors
- Custom craftables - carpets, stone fountains, braziers, candlebarras, large counter, seedbox (stores seeds), mailboxes (and mailbox msging system),
Headbook - stores the heads of the ppl you slain, fireable cannons.
- Seasonal gifts - Gifts for whole year long like wedding dresses, wedding rings, flowers and also seasonal items/decoration, including eg fireworks.
- Tickets and ticket system. Tickets are rewards for staff run events. Entering the nexus sparkle you can exchange the tickets for special items and colourations.
Colourations are neverlands custom ones, all of them. You can also get items like ethereal mounts for the proper amount of credits.
Besides full, refular tickets you can also get shredded and partial ticket. 4 shredded = 1 partial, 4 partial = 1 full ticket.
- Stealables - More than 50 kinds of stealable artifacts, all for decorative purposes only.
- Random Deceit spawner - It can spawn a variety of monsters found all over felucca and lost lands. Its at Deceit dungeon entrance. Just click it to summon random monster!

These mounts come in special hues and, tho they look like horses/llamas/ostard they generally have a lot more hp then their "precursors" and deal more damage.
They require at least master taming skill to tame, but can be ridden by anyone when tamed.

Monsters
- 2 Custom champion spawns - Pirates and Ice cold, they come with their own creatures and champions!
- A new breed of dragons and drakes - Elder dragon, Evil drake, Neon dragon < they are tamable and differ a bit from normal dragons. Neon dragon is smaller than regular ones and it has a nice color, Elder dragon and drake basically have more dexteriety than regular ones. There are also Evil wyrms to fight ! (not tamable)
- Acid elemental - not as hard as poison elemental, but still its able to spoil the blood of yours.
- True Dopplegangers - The creature that takes form of anyone who it is fighting with. Adjusting its skills and AI according to its enemy. An event opponent for everyone.
- Set of necromancer monsters which inhabit Completly custom Necromancer dungeon, they all have necromancer AI.
Necro librarian - a minion of necromancers
Scholar necro summoner - It can summon some creatures to help him fight
Head necro summoner - He is a tough one to fight and it summons evil spawn to help him out.
Povilas - Necromancer dungeon mini-boss. Hard to kill, especially alone.
- Paladins. Paladins of each virtue, their strenght and toughness depending on the virtue, there are 8 of them, as there are 8 virtues. Additionaly there is one "Evil" one, however it sounds. Its the Fallen Paladin of Chaos.
- New tribals - Crees, they inhabit caves and Covetous dungeon! They are related to regular tribals.
- Set of vampires, which inhabit the world, and the Wrong dungeon, They can drop vampire bone armor pieces. They can also switch their forms between vampire/bat.
Vampires : Ancient vampire, Enslaved, Master of darkness, Methusalem, Nosferatu, Vampire (regular), Vampire Lord, Vampire warrior, Vampire theurgist.
- Basilisk, Greater basilisk, Hydra - They inhabit swamps and are dreadful adversaries. You will recognize them by their usual green masking colour and deadly bites!
- Black dragon, black drake (not tamable). Nasty creatures which lure in the dark, invisible, waiting to trap your soul in the grayness.
- Black Lich - a real king of the liches, it summons minions to help him when he is melee attacked. Its quick and deadly. Its not recommend to approach it solo.
- Ghost dragon - an ancient dragon with the ablity to summon lesser undeads, when damaged. Very Hard to kill solo.
- Greater phoenix, pit imp, pit gargoyle = creatures of fire and lava. Greater phoenix is a dreadful creature.
- Ghost - a ghost!
- Death knight - dreadful warrior of death, sometimes riding a nightmare
- Death bard - Be careful with your pets around him. Because its music can put them to sleep. It chooses nightmare as its mount.
- Death rogue - Can reveal you very easily, if you tried to get past him invisible, as he is a skillfull rogue.

Rares
- Treasure hunt rares. Each treasure chest dug up from underground has a chance to drop one of the following items:
- Level 1 chest will drop :
* Coin Of Tossing - when used it will display animation of coin tossing and will tell if the coin dropped *heads* or *tails*
* Domino Tile - when walked over it changes it color black/white
* Flaming Shroom - When eaten , sets you on fire (virtually) You have to see this!
* Floating Shroom - allows you to float slightly above the ground
* Flyer - can be printed using printing press, your image is printed onto the flyer and can be played back when clicked! You can input 3 lines of text which is being said by recorded image
* Tripping Shroom - You go litterally on a trip, randomly teleporting around
* Tape Of Measuring - Allows you to measure up distances Smile
- Level 2:
* Crystal Ball Of Length Murder - Shows your murder counts decay time
* Crystal Ball Of Murder Counts - Shows murded counts
* Gloves Of Bitch Slapping - when used on other players they slap your target! Literally
* Gloves Of Pushing - When used on another player, they cause him to fall over
* Gloves Of Tagging - Used to tag your opponent, if he wears a gloves too, his will change the color
* Gloves Of Zapping - A lightning strikes the player its used on
* Marijuana - Comes in different flavors, when smoked (using bong), it gives you hallucinations, the world becomes more colorfull
* Lightning Tile - When stepped over, lightning animation is played
* Robe Of Deception - Disguises you totally
* Magical Shroom - When eaten, all mobiles around start to take strange forms for you to see!
- Level 3:
* Bong - Used to smoke marijuana
* Vaious chromatism chairs - when sit on they take a random neverlands hue
* Crystall ball of tourney rank - It tells you how good warrior/mage you are!
* Ecstasy - Stong drug, when taken it teleports you around gives you hallucination, and feels you with love
* Crystall ball of answers - Reacts to speech, it always have the right answer for any question.
* Robe Of chromatism - A robe that when worn will cycle through various neverlands hues.
* Light of perfection, Vase of perfection, stool of perfection - Cool deco, used also in painting
* Slippery bannana - you slip on it
* Flame tile - when stepped over, it will display the animation of the flamestrike
- level 4:
* Skipping stone - have fun throwing it on water and see it skips !
* Easel and canvas - An item required to paint someone's image, it requires paints and brush and some amount of perfection items. When the painting is created
You can click it to see the painted person any time you want!
* Flashbang - when used it displays smoke effects all over the screen and when the time comes a great explosion occurs, blinding everyone.
* Paints and brush - Used for painting a painting.
* Pegasus boots, Riding boots - when equipped they will summon a magical mount under you.
* Printing press - Used ot print flyers.
* Shoes of dancing - when worn they will make you dance
* Chromatism Tile - a tile which changes its color when its stepped over, its cycles through neverlands hues.
* Golden Hammer - A hammer used to craft with gold.

Misc
- When equipping skinning knife and cutting the animals with it, you receive cut leather instead of uncut.
- When equipping bone harvester and carving with it killed animals, you can retrieve bones from their bodies.
- All players starts in Britain, Young status is applied to newly created chars on young accounts. Youngs can travel through felucca of course as we are Felucca only shard. You can always renounce the Young status by saying "I renounce my young player status"
- Enhanced loot to catch up no insurance concept to AoS standards (Items based gameplay). More properties and they are more intensive than on regular RunUO shards. Some properities are favored too (fc/fcr).
Also looted armor resistances can be better that standard ones, depending on its class.
- Evasion works properly unlike on standard RunUO, you can evade any kind of damage you receive including poison and bleed "ticks". (Bushido users)
- Unique name verification. No two players may have the same name.
- Skill Gains are slower than on standard RunUO shards.
- Swing cap of 1,25 seconds 2/6 fc/fcr skillcap for mages/necros, 4/6 for paladins.
- Bulk order rewards for smiths give all kind of runic hammers, corresponding to our custom metals. Their strength is enhanced too in comparison to standard osi/runuo ones to match no insurance concept.
- Different metals give different damage bonus for weapons. The higher the better.
- Enhancing an item with special metal has a 25% chance to get it exceptional. Be warned though, if enhancing a weapon with damage increase, it will be capped to maximum exceptional damage increase for given metal, thus it may result in lowering it!
- Some items from tinker menu take their crafted material color, eg metal boxes.
- Champion spawns never activate by themselves. You need valor (at least knight) to activate them.
- Custom help gump, showing online staff.
- Slayer groups are a bit updated, including our custom mobiles.
- Baracoon has 30% less chance to drop higher power scrolls (115,120)
- Rune beetles can exceed the cap of 700 skill points
- No Major artifacts - only minor ones (from paragons and Ancient SOS's)
- Prices on resources on vendors (iron, boards, leather, clothes) are very high to encourage player interaction and resource gathering.
- Fishing You can fish up a map of any level (1-6) They higher the level the lesser the chance.
- Total Resistance property on armors.
- Bulk order timer resets only for blacksmiths when they complete the bulk and hand it over to smith.
- Animals don't loose their loyalty as quick as on standard RunUO when they fail control chance
- When advancing champion spawn, all monsters bodies are being wiped in the vicinity of the altar
- Disabled skill anti macro code (target anti macro and movement based)
- When disguised (incognito) guild abbreviation is not shown to others(nor any other guild data)
- Cure pot delay. 4s for greater cure, 2s for normal, no delay for lesser
- Lost lands markable/recallable

As ages come to pass there is a time of transition, of change and recreation but to make way for the new world the old one must be destroyed. It is said that at the end of all things the heaven will rain fire and the earth with crack open. It is said that from the depths of the great abyss a great serpent will arise to devour the last remains of humanity. So it was written and so it did come to pass, at the end of this age there came about the great cataclysm, the end of the world. Nothing would ever be the same again.
The screams of the child rang out in the night, its burning flesh hanging it tatters around a still animated corpse. The destruction brought about by the last earth shatter gave rise to a river of lava that spread across the valley, consuming all that was in its path. Atop a nearby mountain there could be heard a circle of chanting of mages, working in unison to stem the flow behind a wall of stone. Their voices carried over the screams of the dying for whom it was already to late with a song of hope for those who still remained alive. Their voices rose to a crescendo and then there was silence. The full impact of what was happening would only now start to dawn upon the minds of the hapless people who struggled to outrun death. In the ending of the world there was no magic, there was no hope, there was only death and misery. All across the land the world was tearing apart at the seams. From ocean to desert there stretched a trail of devastation and ruin leaving it is wake the bodies of the dead and dying. All hope, all reason, all meaning was lost in this, this final day, this end time, this Armageddon.
From the oceans rose a menacing creature, said to be the harbinger of the end, it observed the world with a hungry eye. Across the land its shadow was cast, those not dead in the cracking of the world felt an eerie calm settle across them and then the great serpent struck. In its maw it carried aloft those who remained alive to devoured and make itself strong. Its scream of pleasure washed across the shattered land to engulf the last of the last in a grip of terror and then there was darkness. Far and wide the great beast crawled, eating all that was dead and dying, growing stronger and larger at each mouthful. When the land was finally cleaned of flesh it devoured the world, bite by bite until all that was left was a star filled void.
It is the way of all life; at the ending of one existence another is born so as the world did end so to was it created. From the body of the great serpent did the new world form and in it went a piece of the creature which was its destruction. It would be wakened again one day, long after the people had forgotten it, to kill one world and birth another, but for now it would rest. The world that was brought about was different from the one left behind, it was innocent of life but there was something not right. Perhaps it was the leftover hubris from the people of the last world or perhaps there was a force that was not yet done with the world but the creation went amiss. From the body of the serpent not one world was formed but three, three worlds with each a sense of purpose. In a darkened abyss existed the land of Malas, a cruel and harsh world that hated all life that was not born of its own soil, it sort to bring death to everything. To oppose Malas was a land of goodness a purity called Ilshenar, a land that shone with a light of righteousness for all to behold. Between them both was the land called Felucca, with the soul purpose of maintaining the balance between them, for should one side rise up to become dominate it is written that the great serpent will awaken to correct its mistakes.
Life renewed, as it is like to do and soon the lands were once again filled with people but as always there was a wrongness to it. The lands did twist the people born on them to suit their own ends and it such was born a struggle as old as time. Good opposed evil, evil fought good and in between were the keepers of the balance. In Malas the people were twisted with hate and loathing for all things not born of their world, a seething hate that knew no bounds. Upon Ilshenar the people were bought to a state of near perfection and righteousness yet in their own way they were just as twisted as those from Malas. Upon Felucca the people where left untainted by the land, it chose, in it benign wisdom, to allow them to choose their own path and in such be the master their own destiny. Yet war rages, the people of Malas and those of Ilshenar found a doorway between lands that they use to attack each other back and forth in an endless tide of blood. The balance is shifting, the serpent stirs from its slumber and the people of Malas and Ilshenar know now of the lands of Felucca. Time flows, people live people die and there is something else a force that is twisting the lives of all. Only time will tell what fate has in store for the people of the shattered lands and only fate can decide where the future will take us. Such is life.
